Why do we need Examination?

Examinations are important for several reasons. Firstly, they are a mean of testing what we have learnt. We learn many things in school. In most schools, there are about 45 to 50 students in a class. Sometimes, only the more active students will ask questions. The more timid ones will not dare raise their hands. Tests and examinations are a good way of finding out if all the students have understood what has been taught to them and measure their progress.
Next, examinations also instil a sense of competition among students. In a world which is advancing very quickly, it is necessary to learn fast and be competitive. Otherwise, we may be left behind.
When we apply for jobs, we are often required to produce certificates of our achievements. Being active in co-curricular activities alone is not enough. We have to prove that we are qualified academically as well. Good result in examinations will help us get better jobs and more benefits.
Examinations are important because they help us achieve our goals. If we want to become professionals, such as doctors or engineers, we need to study hard and pass examinations. There must be proof that we understand what we have learnt
